The Hog and The Dog

The Fair is next week and Little Buckaroo is ready to show Tonto in the 4-H Pee Wee division. Tonto and Lucky the dog are still hanging out, or well, laying out a lot.

This is a common site in our yard.

" Oh, I am sorry, did I interrupt your nap? Forgive me, I would not want to deter any beauty sleep, I want Little Buckaroo to win a ribbon at the Fair, so sleep on little piggie!"

Now, I am not sure if I should be amused or disturbed by this pair. We have one wacky little mini-farm.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Family Party Weekend

We had a wonderful weekend at my in-laws. We have many family birthdays this month and next so we just had one big PARTY!!! My mother-in-law was a great hostess (as usual) and the food was delicious (she is a certified chef).

This is my mother-in-law with her 4 grandson's.

Our Little Buckaroo does not look so little here. He is growing up so fast!

Oh, a cowboy and Indian captured their Aunt Katie's heart. She is a fabulous aunt and will be a great mom someday, um, you better get on that girl.... tick-tock-tick-tock (no pressure Greg!)

Our nephew Buckaroo and his Aunt Rachael. Do blonds really have more fun?

Sneak attack! Guns and knives, bows and arrows, there was really no way to be out of the line of fire on this day.

Our Littlest Buckaroo and The Park Wife all ready for the party! Don't you just love his nice outfit and matching gun? I guess we all need a little bling, his just happens to be a silver pistol!

Our Buckaroo's. People, does life get any better than this? I am so glad I am their mommy.

Our nephew Dawson, such a cutie!!!! We sure make our boys pretty, um, I mean handsome in this family. I know what you are thinking, where are all the girls? Well, we don't have any little girls around here!

I will just have to live vicariously through you moms of little girls!

Fun-Filled First Day of Kindergarten

Yesterday was the first day of Kindergarten for Little Buckaroo. We waved to the school bus and hopped in the car to head to the lake, homeschooling at its best!

Now, Little Buckaroo can read and write and is pretty good at basic math, so we decided to teach him about useful things like breathing. Well, breathing while snorkeling.

Then we worked on hand/eye coordination as they shot their daddy with waterguns on the boat. I am sure this will come in handy in the future, um, hopefully not the shooting but the hand/eye coordination.

Then came the aquatic lesson, sink or swim. Their is a life lesson in here people so don't go thinking we did not do any educating on our first day of school.

Our guy is a brave warrior! He did not hesitate trying tubing for the first time and after going once with his dad, decided that he could do it all by himself, and he did it like a champ! I think I might be in for some stressful, worrisome times with these two boys. I better not tell them what extreme sports are.

Next lesson, you can always trust your father. No matter what kind of bumps come along.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3 :5-6

Now, this is a lesson in humility, Big Buckaroo threw me in the lake and I still let him take a picture of me. Hey, it's all about that little boy right there (not the BIG girl in the tube).

Many kids go to the local pool and have swim lessons, we State Park folks just throw them in a lake and say swim. Now, now people, we do have life preservers on them.

On the way home, Little Buckaroo said, "Mommy, I think I am dreaming, this has been the greatest day of my life." After pinching him to ensure him that he was awake, all I said is "Welcome to Kindergarten big guy, we are in for one big adventure!"

His grace is overwhelming!

Things That Make You Go Hmmmm?

Sometimes, I come upon things that I just don't have words for. Now, that is saying a lot because I am a bit chatty. As I was walking through the mudroom yesterday, I looked through a window into the garage and something caught my eye. After a double take, I grabbed my camera and took a picture through the glass (that it is why it is not a good picture, well, and the fact that I am not a good photographer like my friend MapperSnapper).

Yes, they were asleep like this. Just a little afternoon snooze on the cold garage floor.

"Oh, I am sorry Tonto, did I disturb your beauty rest?" If pig looks could kill! I did not even phase Lucky, he was out!

Then, as I giggled walking back in to tell the boys about the funny thing I had just seen, I saw this!

Can any of you other homeschool moms, creative grandma's (Betty, I am talking to you!) or crafty gals, let me in on what I am supposed to do with our 2 1/2 year old while trying to homeschool our older child? Oh, and please have your idea not include magic markers.

Who knows what today will hold at this crazy house!

Sleeping Tight, No Bed Bugs Here!

They save space, look good, and most of all, they are FUN!!!!!

The bunkbeds are finished and put together in the Buckaroo's room. Perfect timing since it has rained for a few days here and all they want to do is play in the bunkbeds.

I keep hearing Little Buckaroo say that he has the greatest dad in the whole world, and yes, he does. Big Buckaroo did a fabulous job on building the beds, they are just perfect!

Sleep tight!

When You Grow Up...

What will you be?

A farmer who cultivates God's creation? Vegetables or souls?

A doctor who cures with loving hands relying on The Great Physician for guidance?

A cowboy that rides with Jesus.

A duck out of water in a fallen world?

As I look at my now 5-year-old little boy, I wonder what he will be when he grows up.
My prayer for him is that he always seeks and follows God, walks with integrity, loves unconditionally.....

and is a warrior for GOD.

Summer Heat and Football Fall

I guess the heat has slowed us down.

I have noticed many bloggers have not been around much the past couple of weeks, no, we have not all been hanging out together in some undisclosed beach location, we have just been roasting in our respective towns. People, it is HOT out there.

It has to be the heat and spending the last of Summer vacation with kiddos because the alternative is that we have all been so worried about where Brett Favre is going to play football this season to blog. Now, as a USM alum, knowing Brett in college and working at a fitness center with his wife Deanna, I must admit that I have been loosely keeping track of this saga, or football soap opera. I am so glad that it has been decided that he is going to New York so that I can stop seeing his face every time I click on MSN.

I am sure that Deanna and the girls are looking forward to the shopping opportunities that will present themselves in New York as compared to their options in Green Bay. Plus, I doubt that Green Bay has any good off-Broadway shows. I am happy for their family.

Green Bay fans, I know you felt that the day that Brett was released from Green Bay would be the day that hogs and dogs lived in harmony (no, not Mississippi State Bulldog and Arkansas Razorback fans). Well,

Yes, the boxer and the piglet are inseparable. Lucky the dog watches over Tonto like she is his baby, it is kind of cute, yet a bit disturbing.

Waiting for football weather,
The Park Wife

Disclaimer: For all non-football fans, I am sorry for the football talk. For all Green Bay fans, I am just plain sorry.
