Bring on 2008, I am ready!

Happy New Year, my word for 2008 is APPRECIATION! What is yours?

When I started to blog back in November, I did not know what I was doing and really had no direction, but as I look back it has really become a family scrapbook. Since then, I have started to look at our lives in a different way. I am a bit more intentional about how we live our lives and more APPRECIATIVE of our blessings. I went through a time when we got to this Park that all I did was whine, we were in the desert (metaphorically speaking, we do not live in Arizona) and I complained all the time to Big Buckaroo and to God about how oppressed this place was, how alone I felt. I now see the training ground God has put me in and I have grown so much closer to Him and dependent on Him, which is of course where I needed to be.

So, in being more intentional with every day of our lives since beginning to blog, we now stop to enjoy the bald eagles, even seek them out, I enjoy the idiosyncrasies of the time and energy my husband puts into making a Go-Kart work for our boys enjoyment, appreciation of my family and our history, living life on a State Park, and the list goes on. I look forward to all the adventures and fun with my family in 2008.

As Big Buckaroo and I were watching The Notebook (again) the other night, I thought of how I really need to write down our love story because it is a good one, one that has God's hand all over it. I want our boys to remember how much mom and dad loved each other and I pray that they too will be blessed with Godly spouses that they are madly in love with, ones that as the years go by it only gets stronger. So, one of my goals for 2008 is to write down our story for our children, and their children, and their children....

"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord." Psalm 78:4

And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. 2 Peter 1:15

So, things are looking bright in 2008 and it is because of the way I have chosen to look at it. I could sit around and whine about little, dumb things or I can begin to appreciate all the wonderful blessings in my life. I CHOOSE to APPRECIATE.

What is your focus/word for 2008, do you have one? I would love to hear about it.

I must go cook some black eyed peas and corn bread now, not because I really believe it brings me luck in the New Year, but it is a fun tradition and Big Buckaroo loves them!

Happy New Year from The Park Wife to you and yours.

We eat sauerkraut for goodluck here, and all it does is bring one gas :)

I will give some thought to a single word of focus. I did go back and reflect on 2007 on my page yesterday.

I see that you have grown even in the few months I have watched you write on here, it's been fun. I know you always knew the blessings were there, but sometimes writing about them cause one to focus more.

Hope you have a good day with your guys. Happy New Year!

Gratitude. For so many things. It really does come down to our attitudes. I am grateful for starting my blog and find yours. Happy New Year!

I too have been thinking I need to write down "our" love story. I've told it numerous times to our children, they know it. But it's not written anywhere.

My word/phrase for the new year "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" James 4:8. I want this to be a year that I really draw near to God..

James 4:8 says a lot about how to do that and I will be posting on it...

I can relate completely to what you said about whining and questioning God about the "place" He has put us in. This past year has taught me more about how to be content and grateful for all of the blessings I have. I have learned it's all about my attitude...
Great post! Happy New Year!

A focus word and the writing down of one's love story both sound like wonderful ideas! Happy New Year!
