Your Walk

Before kids, I was fortunate enough to travel with my job. My boss Mary and I used to love to people watch, New York was one of the best places to grab a Coke (actually a Dr. Pepper but I am south of the Mason Dixon line so we call it all Coke), lean against a building and just watch people.

It struck me one day at how differently people walk. Some walk like they have the weight of the world on them, some carefree and bouncy, others determined. I often talk about how Big Buckaroo sauntered into my life. I can see him from far away and know it is him coming my way by how he walks (hey, everyone around this place wears a brown uniform, so from far away it takes a minute to know if it is my husband or someone else).

Yesterday, the 4-H group from our closest town, which Little Buckaroo is going to be a part of, was spending the day at the Park and I took this picture.

Here you see the Buckaroos with an adorable young lady that we know through our local homeschool group and she does not live too far from us. Her parents are doing an extraordinary job with her. She is bright, polite, incredibly well-mannered and an all-around joy to be around. So, when I saw this picture of our little ones where it looks like they are watching her steps I thought, I am alright with that. She will not lead them astray.

With the help of good, Godly friends, obstacles (like steps for the Littlest Buckaroo) are much easier to overcome.

Big Buckaroo is so much like his Papaw from what I hear from many of his relatives. His Papaw was the main male influence in his life and helped raise him. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet him. One day we went to visit the grave site of his grandparents and on his Papaw's headstone it says "He walked with integrity" Wow! His life summed up in this one sentence. I am so blessed to have a husband that epitomizes that statement and I am able to spend my life with him.

And.... he is teaching and guiding our boys through God's grace to become men who will walk with integrity.

How do you walk?

All the glory and praise to God.

Very good post, I really liked it.
Makes you think about your walk and the footprints you are leaving behind. :)

I, too, thought this was a beautiful post. Following His footsteps on the straight and narrow, with you and your hubby to guide them, will certainly result in two boys who will walk like their Papaw did, with integrity.

Have a blessed and safe 4th of July!

This is a lovely post. I am embarrassed to answer your question though, because of late I have been jokingly informed by certain friends that I "swagger." I think I just have a certain bounce to my step, maybe a giddiness? I don't know, but whatever it is, they have been teasing. I am not arrogant, so the whole "swagger" word has bugged me. Confidence is not always a strong suit for me either, so I don't think it's even that. But I do take not of how people walk because of people pointing out how I do.
By the way, the boys are precious. Even from behind I just want to reach out and hug them.

Yes, our walk is very important. Your boys are blessed to have so much instruction on their walk. Godly parents and friends to help keep them on the right path. Amen!

Neat post-my daughters and I were just talking about how folks walk last night.

Not only it is easier to walk with that help, but we never know who is watching our step and WHERE we step. I have tried to live that way all my life. It is not what I say, it what I do that counts. Kids don't just hear what you say to them, but they want to know how you "walk". As an officer of the law I find that very important. As a mother, wife and friend, I find it even more important. Thank you for sharing such an awesome posting today. My nephew is "walking" in the sands of Iraq, so will you please pray for his safe return in November as he is there in the medical field saving lives of all that need medical treatment.

I'm back!

I hope your entire family had a wonderful July 4th.
We had our First Annual July 4th Cookout in our new neighborhood. This was the FIRST 4th of July this neighborhood has ever had. About a year ago, this neighborhood was just being built. LOTS of children and babies in our group. More on the way any day now.

FUN was had by all.

I hope above all else, my walk is a Godly walk. Age and ailments have changed the way I walk. I used to be surefooted , and now I'm slower and take more careful steps.

Our spiritual walk is much more important than our physical walk.

As I read your wonderful post, I thought about John Wayne. There was no doubt he definitly had a recognizable walk.
