Got Wheels, Let's Ride

We went to our land in the mountains this past weekend. It was a beautiful weekend! I think maybe Spring is on the way. Jonquils are blooming everywhere and I did not have to thaw my toes out by a fire.

As we drove up our road, Little Buckaroo asked if he and his brother could ride their wheels to the cabin. We let them out, took their wheels off the trailer and told them we would see them at the cabin. They thought they were so grown up.

I kept asking Big Buckaroo to not leave them too far behind, I still wanted to be able to see them. After reminding me that unless a deer or turkey ran out and knocked them over, they would be fine. There is no traffic on our road. Oh wait, are there bear in these parts?

I remember riding my bike all over our town when I was a kid. I would stay gone riding with my friends all day. Oh, how times have changed.

They showed up a minute behind us with huge smiles on their faces. Independence Day! I am so glad they have a place where they can run wild and explore.

You sound like me! I am always a worrier! And my husband is the complete opposite. :)

They are MUCH safer riding alone on your roads than my two teens are on the roads around us. And, the drivers license stage of life arrives all too fast. Trust me on this one!

We live near the city but on a chunk of land, it's the best of both worlds...but I too am thankful for my kids being able to run and play and ride their bikes all over. With out a care in the world. I read "the giving tree" to my daughters class yesterday I was amazed to find out there are kids that have never climbed a tree....now that's the scariest thing I have heard in a long time!

It's fun to give them independence. It's scary to give them independence. I don't want to talk about their early driving days. They were wonderful. I was not.

Loved the view of your babies exercising their independance. Maybe the age for drivers licenses will be bumped up by that time. You can only hope.

Thanks for stopping by my blog - I love finding other Arkansas Mamas. Your little guys are adorable! Mine is just a small fry, but I already have heartaches about him "growing up". :) Glad we connected. Looking forward to reading more.

I'm old enough to remember riding my bike to and from school when I was in the first grade. Now if one of my grandchildren wanted to do that I'd be terrified! blessings, marlene

Oh boy do I remember the days of bike riding and the freedom that came along with it! I am so with you on the driver's license thing...I'm pretty sure I'll only be able to surive those first couple of years with heavy doses of Xanax. =)

That's so awesome! You're right - I remember having so much freedom, but cringe at the thought of giving my daughter even one tenth of that freedom. Letting go...it must be done.
